Updating the application is divided into various sections to avoid multiple downloads in multi user environment.  To prevent users working on old data, users that share a database are forced to all be on the same version of the application or executable as installed on each individual computer.  The data is shared and a data update is only required once.

These components that require updating can be loaded or updated as follows.

Executable

It is our recommendation that the original install file "StatusSetup.exe" is copied to a shared network directory, prior to installation.  During installation, this directory path will be stored and all future installation updates will be made from the shared directory.

The application installed by running "StatusSetup.exe"  and will perform all the configuration on the PC for each user.  The shared data files will be installed on a SQL server sperately.  Once the application is installed, future updates can be downloaded from within the program.  The install file will be downloaded into the original install directory.  See download section below.

Once the program is downloaded all computers can run this installation update from the Maintenance|Configuration window on the Station Tab.  Alternatively, the application can be updated manually by executing the file StatusSetup.exe.  Once the first user updated to  a new version all users logging into the data file will be requested to update the executable files before they are allowed to access the data

File structure

Update01Updates to the file structure is distributed in a separate file.  This file can also be downloaded online and will be stored in the installation directory as defined above.  File structure updates can be implemented from the Maintenance|Data base|Load structure window.  This window also has a structure download option.  The application will compare the active data version with the available data version when the Verify button is selected and allow structure updates from the Update button.  Users must have level 4 (Management) or 5 (System) access to update a file structure  Always backup the data prior to a file structure update.

Download from FTP site

FTPSetupDownloading the files as described above is only required by one user as these files will be saved in the shared network installation directory.  Download can be done from Maintenance|Configure window on the System tab

Report Files

FTPREportReport files can be stored on the network or on each individual computer.  Users can individually update the report files from the FTP server from the Maintenance|Configuration window on the station tab.
